I want it to be Tuesday......

I can't believe I am actually saying this....I want it to be weigh in day. I really feel ready to do this. I have been chatting with my weight watchers boards support network, the gurus of weightloss and we all feel like 2010 is our year.

I really want to be prepared so I am reading my weightwatchers file tonight and I am going to get Keith to help me devise a menu plan for next week so I can go shopping when we get back from my parents house this weekend. Today, although I have not been counting my points (I have no scales and no idea how much I officially weigh so waiting until tuesday) I have stuck to healthy principles, I had breakfast and lunch and I have eaten satsumas (yummy loose ones from sainsburys), I even have some braising steak in the slow cooker simmering ready for when Keith arrives. I know I know small baby steps but at least they are baby steps in the right direction.

I have also got my diary to sort, along with the letter thanking me for joining 'shine marathon' there was a training plan which I need to start on Monday....and for people not used to exercise and planning to stroll rather than stride the first day is 3 miles walking...OMG I may just die(the letter itself gave me palpitations).....well thats me off to the gym monday wish me luck folks....maybe just maybe if I screw my eyes up tight enough I may just manage to make my weight loss wish come true.

Good luck all of you :o)

Festively Fat

I really need to get on top of this folks. I am like the christmas turkey...getting fatter for christmas. Well Christmas has been and gone and now I have no excuse not to do something about my weight.

I think my friends have realised that my weight is out of control as I only got the two boxes of choccies this year :o)

I have decided that D-day is 5th January which is my first weigh in of the New year, however up until this point I am going to try and eat 3 meals a day, and if I do snack try and eat fruit.

As I commented back in November I am doing the shine half marathon for cancer research, something that is close to my heart as I have lost two colleagues from work in the past year and i have a friend battling with breast cancer currently. I am hoping to get a decent amount of sponsorship for cancer research whilst helping myself get fitter and healthier.

I have my weightwatchers friends with me to help me so I think I may just succeed this time. I am going to take it one day at a time, however my first major goal is my birthday in March...I would like to be a stone and a half lighter by then....

wish me luck...

3lb down wonder if I can keep this up???

Good weight loss this week.

I would say deserved but I think I may struggle to keep up 3lb a week.

I am keeping a check on my points and keeping in touch with my old weight loss buddies, who hopefully will keep me on track.

work remains stressful and the leaving of a colleague was my downfall today . I got into my old habits of eating chocolate instead of my meals...but I will not beat myself up an dwill get back on track tomorrow. I don't think I went over my points but estimating the value of quality streets has never been my forte.

My aim for this week is to identify a regular time slot to go to the gym without killing myself. oh and to carry on supporting my ww chums

giggles summer blog has become Giggles christmas countdown!!!!

OK so the summer challenge didn't work.

But Keiths back, I have started my Masters and I really want to get the rest of my life in order.

WW this week was fab...ok the news at teh scales wasn't great but you can't have everything but I got chatting to a member who is like me. She has really good losses and then relaxes when she goes on breaks etc and puts it all back on....

We have decided we are both going to try and lose a stone for christmas. Its 12 weeks, and with my current lack of motivation it may be an uphill struggle but I think its what I need .....re-group and re-focus.

Maybe by christmas i will look a little more like this

rather than this

Keith says he will help me but trouble is we both love our food....guess it means we will both just have to get ourselves in gear and get some walking done :0o
Anyway I am going to try and get organised this time...and stick with this blog :O)

The return of Giggles

OK I AM BACK ONTO IT!!!!

Its less than two weeks to my holiday and a weird time to get the incentive to start losing again but thats what I am doing, and like my leader says why start tomorrow as tomorrow never comes......

So what am I doing???

  • tracking....if it goes in my mouth its written down and put on my online tracker...I am taking my journal to work so I can jot things down to transfer when I get home so I can't cheat.

  • I am back on the 5 + boards...I find chatting with others that are in the same boat helps me get my own issues in perspective

  • I tried to get help at my GP surgery but although they highlighted my weight as an issue they didn't seem to have time to discuss helping me especially as I wasn't interested in the medication route, anyway I shall continue to beat down the door of ignorance.

  • I will measure myself religiously

  • I have done my BMI which is 36 and my 10% goal is14stone 4 which I hope to have reached by christmas

Keith is back soon but I think we both realise we need to help each other continue losing weight whilst we have fun getting to know each other. Its gonna be hard with us both being foodies but long walks in the country can be as much fun as going out for meals :o).

On a real positive, my new life plan of trying anything new that comes my way really paid off!!!! On Thursday I went to ladies day at York Races with a load of girls I didn't know. I wore a dress and I loved every minute of it...it never crossed my mind to worry about being the biggest there or looking silly I just had great fun :o)

Saturday, 15 August 2009

Its been a month and I have been BAD Giggles...the weight loss has not been a priority ....:o(

Going to get back on track with both the diet and the blogging...

Less than a month intil; Keith comes back ......would be nice to lose a stone if I can

Tuesday, 14 July 2009

Oh piddly plop plop

mmmm a 2lb gain.....mind you I feel dead bloated so maybe its a blip.

Anyway I said I would be honest and this would help keep me going. So I am not going to let a gain get me down so what can I do to boost my morale....... Maybe a cunning plan would help

So what s the plan for this week....well this weight loss lark isn't rocket science so lets see what Giggles is gonna do this week......

This weeks plan..........

  • Eat 3 sensible meals a day....I told you its not rocket science....

  • Snack only when hungry and then have a glass of water first and then only have fruit...NOTE TO SELF avoid choccy tin and biscuit drawer at work.

  • Plan to do something active every day...but think small and achievable rather than major and fail...... so lets think - *Wed - hoover house *Thurs - walk to local shop *Fri - 15 mins on trampoline prior to going to cinema *Sat -go for a swim *Sun - go to gym for at least half an hour *Mon - colleen Nolans DVD......OK so I said minor but its doable with the long hours I am working and I think I need to experience succes

  • Drink at least 2 litres of water

  • Have breakfast

So there we have it.....some would say radical pmsl......so lets see what next week brings.....

It came from out of space.......

Ok so this week I have been obsessed with Torchwood. Which was a bit of a surprise to me to be honest as I am not normally an avid fan.

I think the romantic byline got me hooked to be honest...is it wrong to be so involved with a relationship between two gorgeous men???? hehe.

Anyway whilst watching Torchwood I was not eating so its a win win situation, but it also meant I was not exercising.

All this sci-fi stuff got me thinking about Dr Who in general and the adipose episode......

mmmmm need to get me one of those little men :o)

mind you from what I can recall there were some pretty drastic side effects ...you know you lost the weight but then you ...what was it ....oh yes you died!!!!!
well this week has been a bit hit and miss with the ww. I have not over eaten but I know looking back I have eaten a lot of teh wrong stuff....so weigh in tuesday is going to be a gamble......
*sighs* and its still two months until Keith comes home....it seems like an age. :(

Tuesday, 7 July 2009

Another one bites the dust....

Thats another wibbly wobbly bit done with so thats 3lbs since I started this and thats a total of 9lbs since Keith went away so technically I have another 19lbs left to lose if I am to lose my 2 stone for keith getting back......mmmmm I wonder thats roughly 2lbs a week....its doable...if i really try,

Well I guess I can only try it can't I.

So first off...did I deserve the loss??? well the trick this time around was being honest with myself. So yes hand on heart I think I deserved a loss, I had walked more eaten less and spent along time this weekend clipping hedges, gardening and cleaning with extra exertion. But in all honesty....had I followed my points I would have lost more. My addiction to ricicles can hardly constitute a healthy diet and there was a severe lack of vegetables unles chocolate counts...

MMM so reality check the exercise was good but if I get the eating properly in check and healthy it means I will lose more....mmmm sounds like a plan.

I so want to lose a good stone before Keith comes back and an increase in fitness would be a bonus.....

The plan then?????? well looks like e-source has come to my rescue cos this week I am going to try the bikini diet http://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=38471 it looks like I am on week 1 so tomorrow I am looking at 'the plank' as an exercise.

You know what this actually sounds like it might be fun....ok I dont quite have 12 weeks but I am going to give this a go.....

Monday, 6 July 2009

Its only been a week.......

Well last week I lost two lbs lets hope tomorrow the scales are as forgiving.

Trouble with this weight loss lark is that I suddenly become super critical of the body that I used to tolerate.

I bought a full length mirror a few months ago and since trying to get back on the ww wagon I have found myself viewing my body in various outfits I had previously worn with ignorant abandon. These days I put on clothes look at myself and fling them back into the wardrobe or worse into the charity box.

It results in me taking hours of preening prior to leaving the house .....grrrrr

My muffin top is the current focus of my attention. For those uneducated in weight loss terminology the muffin top (or my personal favourite my dough baby) is the roll of fat that is between your boobs and your tummy.....its is, in my case, large white dimpled and unsightly. It wobbles over the top of my trousers and makes smock tops make me look pregnant. It is the last bit to reduce in size whilst losing weight and is the most unsightly bit of a larger lady in my opinion.

I know reducing my bread intake will help reduce this unsightly wobble, and some exercise may also help....in fact I have looked in my ww magazine and seen some exercises i could do....mmmmmm, and what if I were to get back to the gym.......but would I get there past the full length mirror if I were to put my leotard on???
Oh well fingers crossed for weigh in tomorrow.

Monday, 29 June 2009

OMG its weigh in tomorrow!!!!!

So tomorrow is weigh in night....

On reflection my week has been a mixture of highs and lows so I have absolutely no idea what the scales may say. But I will take it head on whatever the outcome.

I have managed to increase my exercise, I have walked on 4 days out of the 7. I have not managed to do my exercise DVD or go to the gym as I have had this flu-bug thing.

My eating has been better and I have managed to stick to my three meals a day, and I have increased the amount of vegetables and fruit I have had so all is good I guess.

Todays exercise has consisted of me being a domestic goddess.....

I have bottomed my kitchen.

I have had every cupboard out and cleaned. I have binned the stuff that was out of date, despite toying with the idea that a decent bout of food poisoning may actually improve my weight loss.

I have got rid of all the kitchenware that I don't use so that I can see and arrange the kitchenware that I actually do use. My kitchen now looks like somewhere I might like to cook...pity the rest of y house doesn't look as good...it will do by Saturday...it has to I am having friends around.

So how many bonus points do I get for slaving away in my kitchen on the hottest day of the year so far for about 4 hours????? I am off to check out on my tracker.....

Keep everything crossed for me tomorrow, I promise not to stand on one leg in an attempt to weigh less. :o)

First weekend back on the wagon

Well its not a true test as I have been poorly. :o(

Maybe, if I look on the positive side, its the reaction my body is having to all the toxins coming out, what with me having healthy food and drinking lots of water. On the negative side it could just be a virus that everyone else is having at work, or on the real downer it could be my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome playing up......mmmmm, nope I don't think I will go into that one today, maybe when my joints hurt a little less.

So this weekend I slept through Saturday, and on Sunday my sister came over with her friend. We met at the Stork cafe (one of my favourite eateries). Now my sister and I both love our food, maybe different types of food, but our love of food is shared. She is tackling things the rosemary way whereas me I follow ww, however we both frequently fall off the wagon and bemoan our fat genes.

Well my sis and I enjoy walking and talking but walking always involves a tearoom and a bit of cake.....well not this morning. This morning I had a ploughmans...OK so a mini pork pie is not good....but the salad and stuff was great :o).

This evening I managed to stay off the nibbles by typing a letter to Keith, I must remember to post it in the morning...I can't believe it will take over 6 days to get to him :o(.

He seems so far away....but we have booked lots of weekends away. Can't wait to have him home. Mind you I think he may not help the weight loss....how do people manage eating out and dieting......

walking back to fitness

Just a quick post....

well this afternoon I managed to get a walk in.

i went to my local park, I had forgotten how beautiful it was (see pictures)

the weather stayed dry and I was undisturbed apart from a few squirrels and a pigeon I saw no-one until I got to the cafe for a drink of water

I have manageged to stay on track today, and I have spent a lovely evening with my friends on the 5+ boards.

Thats 3 days and stayed on track :o) It can be done

Day 2

Day 2 and I have not succombed.

I have found 2 more triggers for myself.......

THE CANTEEN AT WORK

Last night I was so proud of myself I looked what I had in the cupboard and thought about what I was going to have for my lunch at work. I planned what I was going to take for snacks realising that I would not be able to sit for a day in front of my computer without the nibblies.

I got to work having eaten my peanut bar for breakfast, went about my business of the day my nibbly box full of grapes and strawberries by my side and then.......my boss calls me......'do I want lunch'.....

The NHS lets us take our own food to the canteen but I find myself thinking mmmm would it be rude to take my own salad and sit whilst my friend guiltily ate chips........was that a real thought or an excuse???

Well I find myself in the queue, talking to my boss who is eyeing up the quiche and chips, they smell lovely......and then I see it ...my saving grace.....the pasta is a safer option and I can have salad too. My quorn and salad would have been less but pasta and salad is a safe second.

I sit and eat and enjoy my friends company....phew......

and then

THE SUPERMARKET

I was driving home and realised I did not have anything to have with my salad so I think I will pop into Sainsbury's and pick up some fish...mmmmm

As I walk to Sainsburys from my car...a space of 200 yards...and I am thinking of strawberry tarts, chocolate, ready meals........mmmmmmm

Once inside I get a grip wandering up and down the aisles, I look at the ready meals, but force myself to look at the quorn ones noting the fat content, putting only those below 4% in my basket. I buy nice fruit......but then find myself eyeing up the strawberry tarts..........I run away but find myself in the ice cream aisle....they are in my basket before I notice......

I pay for my goods the mars ice creams nestled in my bags.....mmmmmm one after tea will be ok

I get in from shopping and one is in my mouth as I get in the door.......

THE SOLUTION????

As soon as I get in ....the computer is on and I check my points.....even with the errant mars bar I have enough points for the day...as long as i have salad and prawns......I can live with that....but previously I would have just eaten my tea and checked my points afterwards....and spent the evening bemoaning the fact I had over done it. Then I would probably have eaten myself silly as I would have thought there is no point carrying on today..I will start tomorrow......

So two days within my points....Its just the start but it feels good so far.............

ITS TIME FOR A NEW START

Today is the start of therest of my life.....

I have been playing at this dietting lark for as long as I can remember, so why should now be any different????

I have a cunning plan.....but before I tell you about that I guess I should let you in on what has got me to this point. I'll try for the condensed version.....

Its been a funny old year.... May 2008 I thought I had my life-plan sorted, I was striving towards what I thought was the most important thing in life, I was blinkered and kept working away at what I now know was a fantasy never to come to fruition well not that way anyway. I had a good job, a house and was in a long term relationship, by June 2008 I was single, uncertain about my house and struggling with my job.......I felt briefly like my world had crumbled, but then it felt like a weight had been lifted, like the scales had been removed from my eyes as it were.......

By July I was salvaging my life....sounds a little dramatic I know, but looking back thats exactly what I was doing. Sifting through what was left and what was me......I was actually looking for me. What the hell was important, everything I had spent the last few years building was no longer there....but I was finding I was smiling a lot again, I was laughing and living up to my nickname of giggles, I was seeing my friends and I was making decisions about my future again.

My friends and family were great, if constantly looking for the emotional breakdown we all felt should surely be on the horizon, but it never came. i had fun I met new people, I was enjoying my new lease of life.

Fast forward early 2009, I was trying desperatley to lose weight it seemed something I could actually take control of. I was back on the ww boards, enjoying the banter and the friendship and actually losing a bit of weight. And then I was taken by complete surprise.......whilst chatting with people on the boards something or rather someone caught my attention. Someone was talking to me, leaving me notes of encoragement, his comments were genuine and warm, they made me laugh but also the honesty within them made me think about what I was doing, what I wanted......

For the ww readers amonst you you have seen the romance unfold, that casino night on the boards the annoyingly nauseating FAO comments scattered throughout the 5+ boards and the meeting in Lincoln :o).....and 13 weeks later we are still very much together.

And here we find ourselves in June 2009...so whats changed...I am the same weight I was in May 2008, but yesterday as I stepped on the scales and noted the 1lb weight gain I did not lie to myself about not knowing where that 1lb had come from. I registered instead I had done no exercise except lifting a diet coke can to my lips, I had eaten my weight in chocolate consoling myself after hard days at work and trying to overcome the frustration at not being able to contact my American boy, and I remembered burning my low point curry and replacing it with a take away for ease.

It was a revelation..... this week I have started by acknowledging what went wrong last week so I have a fighting chance this week.......

So the plan, meetings, honesty, esource and this blog.........today is the start of the rest of my life!!!

Although these pics hold lovely memories of a glorious weekend away they can't hide the fact that I am a big lass. In my minds eye I do not look like this but I have to face teh fact this is how the world sees me. I love these pictures but can't wait until I have pictures that make me proud as well as happy :o)
